Body fat reduction should NOT be a game of chance. However, for many people, that is exactly what it is. The main reason being that most people haven't been given the proper information regarding how to lose body fat.

The reason why most people like yourself have not had great success in losing fat is because you have all fallen victim the ever-changing internet hype such as "blast your abs in 7 days" or "lose 50lb in 2 weeks." Sound familiar? Well I'm here to tell you that it's not your fault that your not in the best shape of your life. Years of misinformation is the real reason you look and feel the way you do now.

You've probably heard all of them by now, especially if you've ever tried to lose weight before and didn't see any results after struggling for months, maybe even years. There is so much misinformation going on around the web that many people don't even know where to start anymore.

I'm not telling you that ALL the information you see is bad. There are lots of sites out there giving great and helpful advice. However, since there is that much more websites trying to spam their "magic potions," it can be very difficult to distinguish what actually works.

Let me tell you something from my experience. To lose fat, you are NOT REQUIRED to buy anything! Sure there are products out there which are designed to "supplement" you, but don't forget the keyword... its supplement, not replace. Everything you need to lose fat, you already have access to. You do not need to buy any products from these multi-billion-dollar weight loss industries trying to pinch your pockets for everything you have.

If the weight loss industry actually sold you something that made you lose all your fat in 2 weeks like they claim, they would have lost a (maybe a lifetime) customer. Most of these companies don't see you as a customer, some don't even see you as a person. All you are to them is a price tag.

When you begin to learn the basics of what actually works, that is when you have enough knowledge to make an informed decision about whether or not you want to supplement your diet. The only supplements I would ever recommend is all natural whey protein, vegetable supplement, or maybe some daily multivitamins. The main reason being that I understand it might not be possible for everyone to eat 1g of protein for every pound or 8 servings of vegetables each day. You must keep in mind that supplements are NOT meant to replace real food!

4 Fundamental Principles of Fat Loss

These are the 5 essential body fat reduction principles which must be followed before anything else in order to lose weight and remain healthy.

Diet is the most important principle when it comes to weight loss. Without a proper diet, you can do anything and you still won't see the results you desire. A proper diet should consist of a good mix of proteins, low GI unprocessed carbohydrates, and essential fats. A good breakdown is 30% protein, 40% carbohydrates and 30% healthy fats.

It's also extremely vital to make sure you're drinking adequate water each day as your body functions at peak efficiency when it's properly hydrated. I recommend reading about the benefits of alkaline water as it's one of the best ways to hydrate your body and boost your energy levels.

Exercise is just as important as your diet if you want to optimize your body towards burning fat. When you exercise, you increase your body's natural response and it will gear towards using fat for energy. To lose weight, you must consume less calories than your body requires, and by working out, you increase the amount your body requires thus allowing you to more easily consume less calories than needed. The type of exercise should be high intensity, anaerobic and should focus on compound movements which results in a faster metabolism long after you have finished working out.

Progression is the key to exercising properly. In order for your body to adapt and grow stronger, you must let it know that the physical state it is in now is unacceptable. By progressive overloading (increasing the intensity or weights), you are forcing your body to adapt to the new environment, and in order to do that, your body must become stronger. Women should note here that high intensity weight training will NOT make you over-muscular. It is almost impossible for a woman to become that way without some sort of hormone modification drug.

Consistency is the last on the list. Although consistency does not directly help you lose weight, unless you remain consistent with your weight loss goals, you will never see any result. Weight loss does not happen overnight, it takes consistency and perseverance. However, it does not have to be a tedious chore and you are not required to start a "diet." You are correct that those quick fat and or weight loss gimmicks do not work. I wish someone had told me that when I was younger. Had to learn the hard way, but maybe we can help others by continuing to share the truth. Great hub! :)
